The first is usually whether to convert a tub to a walk-in — a sensible move when the tub sits unused, though we generally suggest keeping at least one tub in the house so it still appeals at resale. Then it's curbed versus curbless: a zero-threshold shower is clean and barrier-free but demands recessed framing and a precise slope, which is real labor. The extras — a bench, recessed niches, a second showerhead, grab-bar blocking for later — have to be framed in from the start rather than added over finished tile, and we pick the glass and drain early because both affect how the pan and walls are built.
