A kitchen remodel is really a sequence of decisions, and the order you make them in is what keeps the budget and the timeline on track. A few decisions worth making early

The choices that most affect a kitchen's budget and schedule are best settled before demolition. The big ones we walk through: whether to open a wall to the dining or living space — a common request in Camas, and one that hinges on whether it's load-bearing; whether you have the room and clearances for an island (36 to 42 inches of walkway on every side you use); and whether to keep the current layout or move the sink, range, or refrigerator, since relocating plumbing, gas, or venting adds cost. Up on Prune Hill and around Lacamas Lake, the newer builds have the footprint but a builder-grade kitchen that never matched the rest of the house — stock cabinets, a small island, and not enough storage. There the work is upgrading finishes, rethinking the island and the flow, and adding the pantry and drawer storage that make a big kitchen actually function. Either way, we plan the electrical and venting up front, because those are the pieces that are expensive to fix after the cabinets are in.

What does a kitchen remodel cost in Camas?

Plan on several weeks of on-site work for most kitchens, but the real clock starts earlier: cabinets are the longest lead item, and their delivery date drives the schedule, so we order them as soon as the design is locked. Opening a wall, moving plumbing, or upgrading the electrical panel adds time, and older Camas homes occasionally turn up something behind the walls. We give you a realistic schedule before demolition, pull the permits the work requires, and sequence things so you're not without a working kitchen any longer than necessary.
