The one we talk through most is converting a tub to a walk-in shower — a good move when the tub sits unused, though we usually suggest keeping at least one tub somewhere in the house so a future buyer isn't left without one. Then there's curbed versus curbless: a zero-threshold entry looks clean and steps out of the way as you age, but it asks for recessed framing and a slope cut to an exact pitch, so it's a decision the whole build is planned around. Anything built into the walls — a bench, recessed niches, a second showerhead, blocking for a future grab bar — has to be framed and waterproofed in from the start, not added after the tile. We also settle the glass and drain early, because both change how the pan and walls get built.
