From there: how much of the layout and structure to change, since removing walls opens a closed floor plan but pulls engineering and load paths into the plan; which systems to fold in now, because rewiring, re-piping, updating the panel, or replacing HVAC is far cheaper while the framing is exposed than as its own project later; and whether to build everything at once or phase it across stages.
